In my previous post I briefly discussed asking for help as a way to help me not get stuck on negative experiences. In this post I will discuss both the importance of asking for help, how to ask for it and who to ask it from. The first thing that I need to do is recognize when it is appropriate to ask for it and the best time to ask for help is usually when I am really stuck on something that is complex to me, or when I need someone else's outside perspective on the subject matter. Following this I ask a trusted family member or professional for their ideas and their perspective on the situation in a way that has humility. Following this I will take the time to listen to what they say and what their thoughts are then take that at face value.
