In two of my most recent posts "how I gained self control" and "why discipline is important to me," I briefly mentioned mixed martial arts being a key element in learning those two skills. Learning how to practice mixed martial arts showed me the importance of discipline and self control. Practice is meaningful and mindful repetition. When you practice a new skill, you have to be patient in that moment. Discipline is one element of patience. You have to give yourself the opportunity to do the new skill correctly, and the self control to try again without getting frustrated.
