Dealing With Stress In A Crowded Environment

Another challenge that I face with autism is dealing with being in large groups of people. I have noticed that when I am in a large group of people I tend to get overwhelmed. But the way I have remained calm in large crowded areas is by first recognizing my body's signals to stress. Then I will focus on my breathing which will help with reducing my stress levels. After doing this I will visualize how I feel in the environment that I am currently in. If this strategy doesn't work I will wear headphones and listen to music such as jazz or any genre that I like, and if this option is not available I will ask family member or very close friends of mine for “pressure” which is like a hug.

My Thoughts On Autism

My thoughts on autism are less about the diagnosis and more about how it impacts individuals. I don't really like to think about the diagnostic handles instead I want to meet new people, because if I focus on the diagnosis I will not get to know the real them. I also want to provide people my insight to give people a better understanding of autism, and to help make things better.
